Looking for a special photo? I have various tallships/ocean liners including the LAST visit of the Queen Elizabeth 2 to the port of Saint John last October, 2003! And the last photos of the tallship Larinda before it was demolished by Hurricane Juan last October. It was later sold to a Halifax resident who plans to restore it over the next few years. Photos also of the replica tallship the Bounty. Also have photos of the replica tallship Jeanie Johnston arriving in St. Andrews, the original ship made a similar journey back in the mid-1800's! The original 1833 Pendlebury LH can be seen in the background of some of the shots, it was there when the original Jeanie Johnston made a visit! ![]() Oct 17th 2003, Saint John, QE2's last port call in North America for good DIGITAL PHOTOS Digital photos can last as long as 35mm ones, but this all depends on the ink you use, the paper, and of course exposure to UV light. Another factor is the heat/humidity of where the photos are located. Really dry conditions, or the opposite, really humid conditions, WILL affect the image quality of digital photos over time! I use Kodak Premium mat(or Epson Colorlife) paper with generic ink. The photo should not fade at all for 5-10 years(no guarantee's here!), but this all depends on where you place the photo on the wall! Any exposure to UV light WILL fade BOTH 35mm and digital prints. If you take care of it, hang it in a place free from UV light, both direct and indirect, it could last 30 years. There are archival papers out there but they are more money and the results do extend the life of prints. Flourescent lights in offices should not affect photos at all. As digital photos are relatively new there are no long term studies out there to show how long they will really last and not fade. There are predictions, but no hard and clear facts.
