Houlton Maine Covered Bridge

Length: 170 feet, two spans
Built: 1911
Location: In neighboring Maine, just north of Houlton. It crosses over the MEduxnekeag River which flows into Woodstock and the Saint John River. Also known as the Watson Settlement Bridge. This covered bridge is the northernmost and newest in Maine. Built in 1911, is the farthest north and the youngest of Maine's covered bridges. It has timber trusses of the Howe design. In 1984 the bridge was closed to traffic when a new bridge was built. The next closest covered bridge in Maine is farther south, north of Bangor in Corinth, Maine, the Robyville bridge spanning the Kenduskeag stream. Maine only has 9 covered bridges left as compared to NB's 65 bridges.
Vulnerability: Very low, its located next to some homes.
Condition: Very Good, its maintained by DOT.
