Back Creek #2 or Hoyt Station bridge 97.9 1936
Is located north of Hoyt on Hoyt Station Road. It is 4.4 miles south of junction of routes 660/785 at Central Blissville on NB 101 then left at the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, 6 homes nearby but someone tried to burn it several years ago.
Condition: Very Good, new roof put on in early May 2001, on dirt road.

Baker Brook #2 or Morneault Settlement 98.6 1939
* Note: MOVED BRIDGE! It was formerly located WNW of Baker Brook in Morneault Settlement. Go 23 miles west of junction route 144 at Edmundston on route 120 to Baker Brook then right 3.4 miles to the bridge.
Its now located in a small park right in the village of Baker Brook. Inquire locally for specific directions.
Vulnerability: Low, 2-3 homes nearby.
Condition: Good condition.

Is located ENE of Springfield on the Smith Road. Go 4 miles NE of Springfield on route 870 then right 0.8 mile on Smith Road to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low but it is isolated, several homes nearby though.
Condition: Very Good, on dirt road.

Becaguimec River #3 or Stormdale bridge 97.8 1909
Is located ESE of Coldstream on the Ashland Road. Go 3.7 miles ESE of the junction of routes 104/570 at Coldstream on Mainstream Road then right 0.4 miles to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, within sight of 6-8 homes.
Condition: Very Good, kept up very well, on dirt road. Some Graffitti.

Bloomfield Creek 151 1917
Located north east of Bloomfield off route 1 on the Bloomfield Station Road. It is 4 miles north east of Bloomfield on route 1 then go 0.4 mile right on Bloomfield Station Road to the bridge. Howe Truss design.
Vulnerability: Moderate, several nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good, in summer 0f 1998.

Canaan River #1 or Aaron Clark bridge 168 1927
Is located east of Canaan Forks on the Cherryvale Road. Its roughly 33.5 miles from the junction of Trans-Canada Highway 2 at Coles Island on route 112 to Canaan Forks then right 0.1 mile to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, 3 homes within sight of bridge.
Condition: Very Good in March, 2001 survey.

Canal Covered near St. George 127.6 1917
Go north of St. George off route 770 on Canal Road. Its 1 mile north of junction route 1 at St. George on route 770 then right 1 mile to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, 4 homes overlooking bridge although it did catch on fire from someone burning rubber in bridge in August 2000. It was saved, minor damage.
Condition: Very Good, new concrete barriers in place plus roadway to bridge received new support rocks/boulders to stem erosion. Some Graffitti.

Is located SW of Notre-Dame off route 115 on Poirier Road. Go 5 miles SW of junction route 525 at Notre Dame on rout 115 then right 1 mile on Poirier Road to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Moderate, several nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good. Some Graffitti.

Cocagne River #5, Shaw Brook(Budd) Bridge 89 1913
Is located north of Magnetic Hill on the Victoria Road. Go 0.3 mile south of the Kent county line on route 490 then left 2.3 miles on New Scotland Road and right 1.4 miles on Victoria Road to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Moderate, 2 nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good.

Coverdale River #3 or Bamford Colpitts bridge 104.10 1870's, moved in 1943
Is located SE of the town of Salisbury on a private road off route 895. Go 2.5 miles south east of route 112 on route 895 then left 0.4 mile to the bridge. Has the distinction of being once real, but now a private covered bridge in New Brunswick.
Vulnerability: Low, nearby farm.
Condition: Very Good. Closed to traffic as it is on a private farm.

Crooked Creek #3, Riverside-Albert 98.2 1945
Is located north of Riverside Albert on the Crooked Creek Road. Go half a mile north of junction routes 915 on route 114 then left or ahead 3.7 miles to the bridge.
Vulnerability: High, is on an isolated road far away from homes.
Condition: Okay condition, roof needed fixing in 1999. On a very bad dirt-rutted road.

Darlings Island 140.5 1914
Its located North of Nauwigewauk on the Darling Island Road, 2.3 miles north of junction 100 on route 1 at Nauwigewauk then left 0.5 mile to the bridge. Features a Howe Truss.
Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good, new concrete bridge next to it. Closed to traffic.

Dennis Stream #3 or Maxwell Crossing bridge 63.6 1910
Go north of St. Stephen on Maxwell Crossing Road. Its about 6 miles north of St. Stephen on route 3 then right about a mile on Maxwell Crossing Road to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Moderate, one nearby home in direct sight of bridge.
Condition: Very Good outside, interior covered in graffitti (May 6th, 2001).

Didgeguash river #3 or McGuire bridge 118.6 1913
Go south-east of Rollingdam on route 760 near Elmsville. Its 8 miles west of St. George on route 1 then right on route 760 for about 9 miles to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, 4 homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Very Good, although it has some graffitti and some side boards have been replaced (May 6th, 2001).

Is located at Rollingdam on route 770. Go 2.5 miles from junction of route 127 on route 770 at the village of Digdeguash.
Vulnerability: Low, 3 homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Very Good, some damage to boards caused by plow or some other vehicle (May 6th, 2001).

Condition: Very Good, with the exception of a big hole on the side where boards have been kicked out (May 6th, 2001).

Eel River #3 or Benton bridge 107.6 1927
Is located in Benton on the Benton Road. Go 7 miles east from junction of Trans-Canada Highway and Benton Road in the village of Benton.
Vulnerability: Low, at least a dozen homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: VExcellent, some graffitti (summer of 2000).

Florenceville Bridge 154- one span, 4 steel spans 1907
Is located just off Trans-Canada Highway 2 at Florenceville to route 105 and take a left at Old Florenceville Bridge Road. This bridge is quite different from any other in New Brunswick, it was originally built in 1885-86 with an unhoused Burr-Type wood bridge of 5 spans - the western Burr span was replaced by a Howe truss and then covered. In 1907 the eastern Burr span was also replaced by a Howe Truss.
Vulnerability: Low, dozens of homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Excellent, one of the best preserved around (May 4th, 2001).

Is located north of Gaspereau Forks on Cross Road just off route 123. Go 13.2 miles north on route 10 at Chipman past the 116 junction at Gaspereau Forks then right at the bridge.

Condition: Very Good, with the exception of a big hole on the side where boards have been kicked out (March, 2001).

Tom Graham Creek Bridge 139 1928
It is located SW of Rexton on Main River Road. Go 4 miles SW of junction route 134 at Rexton on route 495 then right 0.7 mile on route 470 and right again 1.9 miles to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Excellent, one of the better preserved bridges in the province (March, 2001).

Is located north of Rivière Verte on Davis Road. Go 3.5 miles SE of junction route 144 at St. Basile on Trans-Canada Highway 2 then left 5.5 miles to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, 4-5 nearby homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Very Good, virtually no graffitti. (summer of 1998).

Hartland Bridge - Longest Covered Bridge In The World 1,282 1901, 1921 restored
Is located in Hartland just off Trans-Canada Highway 2. In town at Hartland just off Trans-Canada Highway to route 105 then left at the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, whole town within sight of bridge.
Condition: Excellent, well cared for and virtually no graffitti. (May 4th, 2001).

It is located west of Upham on Damascus Road. Take route 1 to Lakeside, right on Lakeside Road to route 860, left 2.5 miles on route 860 and right 0.3 mile to the bridge.

Condition: Excellent, one of the better preserved bridges in the province (summer 1998).

It is located north of Sussex off route 890 in roadside park. It is 0.7 mile north of junction of the Trans-Canada Highway 2 on west side of route 890.
Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good, new concrete bridge passes right next to it. Closed to traffic. (fall of 2000).

Condition: Very Good. (fall of 2000).

Keswick River #6 or Stone Ridge bridge 126.4 1914 - 2008
Is located NNW of Zealand on the Morehouse Corner Road. It is located a mile SE of junction of route 616 near Zealand on route 104 then left 2.5 miles on Upper Stone Ridge Road to Morehouse Corner Road and left to the bridge. New! Lost to an arson fire in November of 2008. Total Loss.
Vulnerability: Moderate, one home overlooking bridge.
Condition: Goo condition, some boards have been kicked out on one side. (summer of 2000).

Kouchibouguac River #5 or Cameron Mills 140 1950
Is located WSW of St. Ignace on Cross Road. It is 5.2 miles south of junction route 11 at Kouchibouquac on route 134 then 8.1 miles right on road to St. Ignace and right 0.4 mile to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, several homes overlooking bridge.
Condition: Excellent, one of the best in the province, no graffitti! (summer of 1998).

Little Lepreau river #1.5 or Mill Pond 108.10 1910
Its located south of Lepreau off route 790 at Little Lepreau River. Go 3.8 miles ESE of junction route 1 just east of Lepreau on route 790 then right 0.2 miles to the bridge, the structure was moved to the north side of the river to a park in 1986.
Vulnerability: Moderate, shows signs of past abuse, several nearby homes.
Condition: Moderate, graffitti covered, some damage to to boards inside. Closed to traffic, by-passed by nearby bridge. (May 6th, 2001).

It is located SSW of Coles Island on Starkey Road. It is 3.5 miles SE of Coles Island on Trans-Canada Highway 2, turn right on Starkey Road and follow to the bridge.

Condition: Very Good, very picturesque. (summer of 2000).

Magagudavic River #7 or Flume Ridge 63 1905
Go SE of Brockway on Mill Road. Go 0.3 mile south of York County line near Brockway on route 3 then left on Flume Ridge Road for 5.5 miles and left half a mile on Mill Road to the Bridge. Burr Truss design.
Vulnerability: Moderate to High, isolated on poor dirt road, no nearby homes, several camps though.
Condition: Good, has a strong steel frame holding it up over the river. (May 6th, 2001).

Is located NW of Moncton in Magnetic Hill Park. Go for half a mile from junction of the Trans-Canada Highway 2 on route 126 then right 0.1 mile to Magnetic Hill (Magic Mountain) Park entrance.
Vulnerability: Low, within private park.
Condition:Excellent but looks really out of place in this theme park. (summer of 1998).

Is located NW of Memramcook on Gayton Road. Its off Trans-Canada Highway two 4 miles south of route 132 south of Calhoun then right or ahead 1.5 miles.

Milkish Inlet #1 or Bayswater bridge 218.2 1920
Is located east of Bayswater across Kennebecasis Bay by ferry boat from St. John over Millidgeville ferry. From St. John, exit Highway 1 at Sommerset Street NW to Milledge Avenue, turn right and follow to Kennebecasis Drive, right again and follow past Tucker Park and Kennebecasis Bay Ferry access road, cross the bay, follow signs for Bayswater about 3 miles NW of ferry docks to the bridge.
Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes.
Condition: Very Good, very picturesque. (summer of 2000).

Is NE of Bath on North Johnville Road. Go 3 miles north east of junction of route 105 on route 565 then right 2 miles on Johnville Road and left 2 miles to the bridge.* Note: Burned to the ground in the early morning hours of May 3rd, 2001. Second one lost in New Brunswick this year after the Nicholas River Bridge. See bridge news featured story for more info and photos of the remains.
Vulnerability:High, isolated and not within sight of any homes.
Condition: Before it got burned it was a great bridge in excellent condition. (May 6th, 2001).

    Is located south of Norton off old route 1. Go 2.3 miles SW of junction routes 124/865 on south side of route 1. Howe Truss, bridge closed to traffic.
    Vulnerability: High, isolated and not within sight of any homes.
    Condition: Very Good, closed to traffic but a paved sidewalk leeds to bridge going underneath the 4 lane highway-Route 1. (summer of 1998).

    Nackawic River #5 or Nackawic Siding 63 1927
    Is located WNW of Millville on Nackawick Siding Road. Go 3.7 miles west of junction of route 104 on route 585 then about 2 miles on Nackawick Siding Road to the bridge. Narrow rough dirt road to bridge, recommend hiking in on NB/Sentier Trail from route 585.
    Vulnerability: Extremely High, could be the next to be lost. Isolated on poor dirt road out back of Millville.
    Condition: Okay condition, sideboards have been kicked out and looks like someone tried to start a fire in it one time. (summer of 1998).

    * Nerepis River #3 or Bayard bridge 107.6 1921
    Was located 1.2 miles south of Route 7, 101 juncture in Welsford. Was located just off route 7, army bailey bridge has taken its place in March of 1998 after it was washed away. Canadian Press Release.

    Condition: Was in Very Good, a real loss for the community. (summer of 1997).

    Nelson Hollow or Mill Brook #0.5 83.8 1870 original, rebuilt in 1899 & 1977
    Is located WSW of Doaktown on Nelson Hollow Road. Go 1 mile WSW of Doaktown at village limit on route 8 then right 0.2 to dead end road and walk south 0.1 mile to the bridge. One of only two Howe truss variation with 'Hip' or Cottage Roof, restored in 1977 by the Doaktown Historical Society. The other bridge with a cottage roof is the Turtle Creek. Oldest covered bridge in New Brunswick.
    Vulnerability: Moderate, only one nearby home.
    Condition: Very Good, this rebuilt bridge is closed to traffic but in great shape. (summer of 2000).

    North Becaguimec River #1 or Adair bridge 68 1948 - 2009
    Is located NNW of Cloverdale on Furlong Road. Go 1.7 miles north of junction route 575 at Cloverdale on route 104 then left 0.1 mile on Furlong Road to the bridge. New! Burned by an arsonist on the night of October 15th, 2009. Total loss.
    Vulnerability: Low, several homes within sight of bridge.
    Condition: Very Good, new floorboards put in. (May 6th, 2001).

    North Becaguimec River #4 or Ellis bridge 63 1909
    Is located ENE of Coldstream on Ellis Road. Go 2.2 miles east of junction route 580 on route 104 then 0.3 mile left on Howard Brook Road and right at Ellis Road to the bridge.
    Vulnerability: High, no nearby homes. Was one home right next to it but it burned in 1999.
    Condition: Excelent, despite being isolate its in excellent shape. (May 6th, 2001).

    Is located NE of Perth-Andover off route 109 between Currie and Red Rapids on Tomilson Mill Road. Go for 11 miles east of junction of route 105 near Perth-Andover on route 109 past Currie left on Tomilson Mill Road 0.1 mile to the bridge.
    Vulnerability: Low, 4 homes within sight of bridge.
    Condition: Very Good, completely rebuilt back in 1997 (fall of 1999).

    Pedicodiac River #3 or Hasty bridge 126.4 1929
    Is located north-east of River Glade off route 106 on Power Point Road. Go for half a mile east of jct of the Trans-Canada Highway 2 on route 106 then right 0.3 mile on Power Point Road to the Bridge.
    Vulnerability: Low, 1 home overlooking bridge and several more nearby.
    Condition: Very Good. (summer of 1998).

    Point Wolfe River Bridge, Fundy Park 82 1908, rebuilt in 1992
    Is located SE of Alma in Fundy National Park. Go 4.7 miles west of route 114 at Alma on main Park road. Has the distinction of being the only bridge in NB accidently destroyed by workers then re-built. Only completely painted bridge and only red bridge in province.
    Vulnerability: Low, despite having no homes nearby the park is monitored by rangers and popular with the public.
    Condition: Excellent, this replica bridge is in excellent condition. (summer of 2000).

    Quisbis River #2 66.2 1951
    Is located NNW of St. Anne de Madawaska on East Quisibis River Road. Go 3.5 miles SE of St. Anne de Madawaska on Trans-Canada Highway 2, turn left on Sirois Road for 1.5 miles and left again.
    Vulnerability: High, no nearby homes.
    Condition: Very Good, despite being isolated the bridge is in great shape. (summer of 1998).

    Rusagonis River #2 or Patrick Owen bridge 236 1909
    Is located at Rusagonis on old route 655, Wilsey Road. Go for 13 miles south of Fredericton on route 101 then left on route 655 and right on old route 655 to Rusagonis.
    Vulnerability: Low, at least 6 homes overlook the bridge.
    Condition: Very Good, one whole side was replaced in 2000. Features a unique long "window" opening the whole of one side. (May 6th, 2001).

    Is located NW of Smith Creek on Oldfield Road. It is 2 miles east of route 1 on route 2, turn left on route 890, follow for 8 miles past Smith Creek then right on Oldfield Road. Onltcovered bridge featured on a coin in Canada. 1992 25 cent piece to commemorate the Canada 125 birthday celebration.
    Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes.
    Condition: Very Good, the only covered bridge in Canada to be featured on a Canadian coin(quarter) back in 1992. (May 6th, 2001).

    Was located SW of Rexton on route 470. To see th remains go SW of Rexton on route 495 for 4 miles then right on route 470 about half a mile.

    Condition: Was in Very Good, the cause of the fire is still not officially declared accidental or the result of arson. (March, 2001).

    Vulnerability: Moderate, no nearby homes but there are a few km's distance.

    Is located on the Deforest Road. it is 0.3 mile south of junction route 121 on route 111 then left 5.8 miles on Waterford Road and left on Deforest Road at the bridge.
    Vulnerability: Low, 1 home overlooking bridge and 4 more nearby.
    Condition: Very Good. (summer of 1998).

    Turtle Creek #4 or Peter Jonah bridge 68 1912
    Is located SE of Turtle Creek on Peter Jonah Road. Go 1.5 miles south of Turtle Creek on route 910 then left half a mile to the bridge. Is a Burr Truss, only other one of this type is near Doaktown, Nelson Hollow bridge. Roof is quite unique.
    Vulnerability:Extremely High, no nearby homes & on an isolated dirt road.
    Condition: Very Good, despite being isolated its in great shape. (summer of 1998).

    Tynemouth Creek 97.2 1927
    It is WSW of West Quaco on Tynemouth Creek Road. go for 1 mile south of junction route 111 on route 825 then left 0.2 mile to the bridge.
    Vulnerability: Low, 4 nearby homes.
    Condition:Excellent, despite being almost on the ocean the bridge is in great shape. (spring of 2000).

    Wards Creek #2 or MacFarlane bridge 63.6 1909
    Is located south of Sussex Corner on Wards Creek Road. It is 4.4 miles SW of junction route 121 and route 111 at Sussex Corner then right 1.1 miles to the bridge .
    Vulnerability: Low, one home sits right next to it and several more are nearby.
    Condition: Very Good. (summer of 1998).

    Vaughn Creek #1 or Irish River 107.6 1935
    Located at the Eastern edge of St. Martin on Shore Road. It is 1.5 miles east of junction route 111 to St. Martin on Main Village Road and then right 0.1 mile to the bridge.
    Vulnerability: Low, many homes overlooking bridge.
    Condition: Very Good, threat here comes from the huge increase in tourist traffic caused by the opening of the nearby Fundy Parkway. (spring of 2000).

    Vaugh Creek #2, Irish River or Hardscrabble Hill bridge 78.4 1946
    It is located at the Eastern edge of St. Martin on Orange Hill Road. Go 1.5 miles east of junction route 111 to St. Martin on Main Village Road and then 0.1 mile ahead to the bridge. 1946 renovation.
    Vulnerability: Low, numerous homes overlooking bridge.
    Condition: Very Good. (spring of 2000).

    Weldon Creek #3 or Harris Steeve bridge 63.8 1923 or 1927
    Is located west of Hillsborough on route 910. Go About 2.5 miles west of route 114 at Hillsborough on route 910 Built in 1927, its twin the Hartley Steeve/Dan Cupid/Weldon Creek #3 was destroyed by arson in 1993.
    Vulnerability: Low, several nearby homes.
    Condition: Very Good, it was completely rebuilt a few years back. (summer of 1998).

    45 River #1, Fundy Park 98.6 1914, 1986 restoration
    Is located north of Alma on Barrett or Lower Forty-Five Road. Go 5 miles east of junction routes 915 on route 114 east of Alma then left for 1.2 miles and left again for 3.4 miles to the bridge.
    Vulnerability: Very High, isolated on poor dirt road used by only a few.
    Condition: Very Good, despite being isolated the bridge is in great shape overlooking a rocky gorge and small waterfall underneath. (summer of 1998).
