Pendlebury LH Project Update

Things are progressing along nicely with the 1833 Pendlebury Lighthouse Project in St. Andrews NB. Last weekend a group of volunteers helped prepare for the demolition of the old Lighthouse Restaurant on Patrick street but first they had to board up and save the part of the old Lightkeepers Cottage that was incorporated into the former restaurant at some point in the past. Work accomplished so far includes putting in a plywood wall for the protection from the weather for what was is the front of the cottage (sea side) - and has been framed in to take center door with transom window, and two side windows, as per the old photos. The chimney/fireplace is not original, but will probably stay. The foundation for the central chimney is intact underneath - I was crawling around under on Sat. to support some of the front floor. There are plans for this Friday to cut the floor joists of the restaurant to separate it from the cottage, again a volunteer workforce of Board members and a few others. Demolition should take place tue. or wed. of next week.
