Location: PricevilleCounty: Northumberland Map: Location Map Year Constructed: 1930's, In 1988 it was re-built Length: 200 metres Spans: 2 Comments: This is the longest and most promoted suspension footbridge in the province. Only the one at Big Salmon River at the end of the Fundy Parkway, gets more visitors. Locals often park on the Doaktown side, and walk to their homes in Priceville, saving some time commuting to work on the other side of the Miramichi River. The original bridge was is use up until 1939 when it collapsed killing 3 people. A second bridge was built in 1939 that lasted until 1988 when a third bridge was constructed which is the one that is in use today. Another curiosity up until about 2003 or 2004 or so was the hermit of the bridge, a recluse who lived in a camp nearby. Its unknown what happened to him but he may have passed or moved on! ![]() Priceville suspension footbridge |
