This bridge is a real "gem" to see and cross, looks a lot like one you would see in an "Indiana Jones" movie. This bridge was also maintained and built by the Fraser Pulp and Paper Company. As of 2006 its unknown if this bridge is still in existence as it was of poorer construction than other suspension bridges. Trip report and photos are from 1998-99. Second Falls Rope Suspension Bridge Is Gone!!!! [Posted on 07.02.2007] The Deuxieme-Sault or Second Falls Rope Suspension Footbridge is now gone! As is the nature park that Fraser Mills built next to its tree nursery out back of Edmundston in Madawaska County is. All that remains is the fallen trailhead sign, part of an overgrown trail and one big clear-cut! although the demise of the bridge can't be verified firsthand considering the trail disappeared, and the bit remaining was overgrown. The other way in from in back of the nursery couldn't be found. The area where it was was clearcut, judging by the overgrown, is a few years old. A new sign out front of the tree nursery says it is part of Acadian forestry, a division of Fraser Pulp and Paper. Its unknown why they destroyed this park they built only 10 years earlier. Or why they clear cut it, as I recall the forest was not a large area, its very sad to see the loss of this suspension footbridge as it was the only one like it in the Maritimes. And one more reason now not to visit Madawaska County... Forestry building Sign Out Front ![]() Second Falls Suspension Footbridge |
