Pendlebury LH Progress Report.
A March/April update on the restoration of the Pendlebury Lighthouse in St. Andrews.
Right now the old lantern room is being dismantled and evaluated before repairs are made. Don Pell, a blacksmith at Kings Landing, was present to help the students at the NBCC St. Andrews Welding Department dismantle the old wrought iron cupola.
The students have removed most of the "windows" from the lantern, you can see them standing against the wall behind the lantern structure. The next step is to sandblast them, so the metal can be assessed for structural strength, and repairs determined. We have ordered a sandblasting unit from Princess Auto, which should be here this week to continue the restoration efforts. Don will continue to visit the project and advise on steps needed for restoration.
Thanks to Alanna Baird of Civic Trust for the photos and this update.
